Michigan Voting Rights Act Will Protect Voters From Discrimination

After Senate passage, Secure Democracy USA urges the House
to pass historic legislative package to protect
the constitutional right to vote in Michigan

LANSING, Mich. — Following the passage of the Michigan Voting Rights Act legislative package in the State Senate today, Secure Democracy USA Director of Advocacy Diego Echeverri issued the following statement:

“The Michigan Voting Rights Act will add to the state’s already rigorous set of checks and balances that ensure free and fair elections for Michigan citizens. The legislation will safeguard that the constitutional right to vote in Michigan is free from discrimination, increase transparency in elections, and continue Michigan’s national leadership in improving election law. 

“Secure Democracy USA was proud to testify in support of the Michigan Voting Rights Act, particularly on S.B. 404 that will improve voting access for Michigan citizens with disabilities, and we urge members of the House of Representatives to support all bills in this legislative package.”
